Message: Joan and Family. I am saddened to read of Carl's passing. Doing so I was flooded with fond memories reaching back to 1956 when we were infielders together on Wellington's all Ontario Pee Wee baseball champions. A few years later we were line-mates playing Junior hockey in Picton. As we moved to adulthood there were hundreds of hours of the most enjoyable golf one could wish for. Through that evolution I always recall how Carl never lost that little boy's joy of just playing his game whatever it was at the time. That infectious grin was always present. It is a marvelous legacy to leave former team-mates and friends.

May you all be sustained by wonderful memories.

Message: Dear Joan, Joe, Bill, Marty and families,
My deepest and most sincere condolences on the loss of Uncle Carl. He, like his brothers loved his sports and loved to win!! He certainly gave cancer a fight and I'm so sorry that he lost his battle. Joan, I admire you so much for keeping him at home and making his final wish come true. It couldn't have been easy. I heard him say that he had a good life and one can not argue that. I will remember him as a very fit, athletic man who always had an impish grin on his face. I know that he and Dad (Marvin) are playing catch...Carl pitching and Dad catching! And I'm sure they will be enjoying some card games and liers dice. I love our family reunions too!
Thinking of you with much love. ❤

Message: Dear Joan, Joe, Bill, Marty and families:
Sending our sincere condolences for your profound loss. We will always remember Uncle Carl with a smile on his face and sports on his mind. Brian worked with Carl at QDC for many years, and there was once a snooker tournament with other jails and of course, Carl was the champion! Everyone said there is not a sport on earth that Carl Stacey can't excel at.
When my dad Marvin learned of Carl's diagnosis over a year ago he cried! He couldn't imagine anything happening to "Young Carl". They will both be dearly missed,
Thinking of you,
Brian and Patti Layfield
