I just wanted to share a few memories of Carl. I had the pleasure of playing both hockey and golf with Carl over the years, he was the epitome of a "gamer". I recall the last time I played hockey with Carl. It was a few years following his heart attack, sometime in his early 70s (I don't think he was supposed to be playing). It was Friday afternoon pick up hockey, and Carl was sprung on a race for the puck between himself and the goaltender. Carl won the foot race, but on just, and hit the goalie doing a flip head over heels. I joked to Carl that this was the NHL. He shot back "this is my NHL!". This was the attitude I saw Carl have on the golf course as well, even though sometimes it rubbed a few people the wrong way. I wouldn't say that Carl had the greatest golf swing I've ever seen, but he always found a way to get it done and sink the big putt. I always enjoyed my time the Carl, and will miss seeing his smile on and off the course. My condolences to Carl's family, he will be dearly missed. |
