Dr. Leslie Summers |

My deepest sympathy to Dr. Summers's wife and children and grandchildren- I was deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Summers death and share the enormity of his loss with my former colleagues at Ross Memorial Hospital. Les was a gifted physician- knowledgeable, current, patient and family focused and he believed in the collective contribution of the healthcare team. He was respected by all staff - physicians, nurses, therapy, housekeeping alike. He was trusted and he trusted in the team. His bedside manner, with his soft Scottish burr was respectful and heart warming and he excelled in palliative care. I was privileged to have worked with him for 14 years and I will remember him as one of the best physicians I worked with in my 38 years in healthcare. Approximately a year ago, I was at a dying patients bedside with Dr. Summers. Dr. Summers laid his hand gently on the patient's shoulder, told him that it had been his honour to have cared for him and wished him well on his journey. I am so very sorry that Les's immediate family were not able to be with him at the time of his death but |I hope that you take comfort that his Ross community surrounded him with love and respect.
Les, It was a privilege to have known you - I wish you well on your next journey my friend. |
