Lilian ”Lil” “ Shorty” Denard
1927 –2023
It is with great sadness that we announce Lil’s passing on August 29 just 8 weeks shy of her 96th birthday.
Beloved wife of Norman Denard, deceased 2006, loving mother to her children, Sandra (Leslie) Latchford and Mark (Debbie),
proud grandmother to grandchildren Erin and Jeffrey (Joslyn) and great grandchildren Montgomery and Mitchell.
Lil was born in Whaley Bridge, a small village outside Manchester, England, the youngest child of Albert and Ann Platt.
World War II brought Norm and Lil together and they married in November 1945. Lil arrived in the County in July 1948
to begin life on the farm and what a life it was. Lil will be remembered for being a hard worker who was always willing to help out,
her generosity, her love for her family, her infectious smile and her ability to make short work of a 1000 piece jig-saw puzzle.
As per Lil’s wishes there will be no formal visitation, no funeral service or speeches.
Instead, the family invites friends and neighbours to call at the
Ainsworth Funeral Home, 288 Noxon Avenue, Wellington
on Sunday, September 24th from 1:00 – 3:00 to share memories and offer condolences.
A private family interment will take place later at Wellington Cemetery.
