Cluett, Thayer

Thayer Bodman Cluett,
beloved wife of Robert Cluett, passed away peacefully at her home in Prince Edward County, Ontario,
on Wednesday, December 28^th, in the company of family and caregivers.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Holly (Gordon Gwynne-Timothy), Marjorie (Marc Seguin), Helen (Francis Cadeau),
and by her niece Amy Bodman, who joined the family in her teens (John Sanders).  
Thayer is also lovingly remembered by her friend Rosamond Bailey (David). 
She will be much missed by her grandchildren, her nieces, and her nephews. 
Thayer was predeceased by her brother Harry Bodman and his wife Dottie, and her granddaughter Gosia Gwynne-Timothy. 
Her brother, Richard Bodman (Karna), and her cousin Bliss Clark also mourn her passing.  

Thayer was a deep thinker and a writer.  She graduated from Columbia University with a B.S.,
and from York University with a Master’s degree. In her forties, she developed an interest in the writings of C.G. Jung
and trained as an analyst in Zurich.  Thayer chose to leave school just before finishing, concluding her studies with a thesis titled,
"When He comes, will He have a diploma?"  

The tension between individual conscience and the consensus of the group was a theme that underpinned Thayer’s work
for the rest of her life.  Her friend and colleague, Rosamond Bailey, joined Thayer in future projects, as did a number of others. 
They published a quarterly, ‘The Mirror’; produced a documentary video titled Dry Bones, Christianity In Transition; and
organized discussions in and with the Anglican Church in Toronto.  

With the founding of Two Fishes Press in 2005, Thayer and her colleagues continued to address questions of conscience,
Christian scripture, and liturgy, through a lens informed by depth psychology and personal experience. 
The writer-editors, Rosamond Bailey, Amy Bodman, Helen Cluett, Thayer Cluett and Marjorie Cluett Seguin,
along with a range of contributors, produced seven books.  They are working on an eighth.  

Thayer will be deeply missed, and the impact of her many years of work wrestling with Christianity
and the challenging questions of life will long be felt.

The gratitude and affection of the family are extended to caregivers Emma Cowley, Nicole DiGenova and Rachel Pollard. 
Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Dr. Blair Scrivens and staff, to nurse practitioner Brad Gunn and the Prince Edward Family Health Team's Collaborative Care Program, and to Home and Community Care's palliative support program,
particularly nurse Shari and PSW Kaitlyn from Bayshore Home Health. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at
St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Picton
