Wannamaker, Nelson Eric (Neil)
1950 - 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Neil at his home on June 19, 2024.
Loving husband of Marlene. Proud father of Denise (Chris) Gilbert and Shelby (Scott) Kelly. Step-father to Laura Ogden, Carolyn (Paul) Baldissera and Richard (Marj) Ogden. Devoted Grandfather to Kaitlyn (Nate) Mastin, Jacob (Abby) Gilbert, Taylor (Abby) Gill,
Jack Kelly, Jessica Clement and Marisa Salvalaggio. Son of the late Ken and Dorothy Wannamaker, brother of the late Larry (Charmaine), Linda (Earl) Rowe, and the late Dan. Deeply missed by extended family and friends.
Neil embarked on his professional journey in the retail industry straight out of high school at the Dominion Store in Trenton
and concluded his career at Lowe’s upon his retirement. In addition to his daily job, Neil also dedicated his time to
installing swimming pools, moving and repairing pool tables throughout the Quinte region.
His passion for travel carried across the globe, eventually finding solace as a Canadian Snowbird in Orange Beach Alabama every winter. He found great happiness in the opportunity to golf daily and cherished the freedom from shoveling snow during the winter months, which always brought a smile to his face.
Neil was actively involved in men’s local softball and hockey leagues for many years in both Trenton and Brighton communities,
where he dedicated his time and passion to the sports he loved. Neil’s love for sports shone brightly as he devoted his time to
coaching his girls softball teams and later as an umpire.
Neil’s greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren excel in their sports activities, a passion that brought him immense pride
and happiness. Neil was known for heckling the referees while passionately cheering on his grandson's hockey games,
showing his unwavering support for both the sport and his family.
