Hofford, Murray

Murray Franklin Hofford
Passed away at home with family at his side on May 17, 2024
At the age of 83

Beloved husband for 39 years of the late Karen Marie (Lane) Hofford.
Son of the late Homer and Evelyn Hofford.  Brother of the late Jim (Erma), the late Ian (the late Cathy),
Bruce(the late Joanne), Judith (the late Bob) Lambert, Richard (Nancy), brother-in-law Ken Lane (Gary Routliffe)
Will be greatly missed by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.

Murray was born in Sudbury where he attended school, worked for International Nickel for 10 years followed by several years as Lessee
at a Shell Service Station and Car Wash. In 1973, Murray moved to Prince Edward County along with other family members
where he operated a Dairy Farm with his father and brother, Richard.  In 1990 Murray became the Manager of the Wellington Arena
where he stayed until his retirement in 1999.

Murray was highly regarded by family and friends and always put other’s needs ahead of his own.
His strong work ethic was a model for his many nieces and nephews.  As one of his nephews stated
“With role models like you I had no choice but to grow up as a responsible, hard working and caring adult.  For this I am forever grateful.”  Murray was also highly regarded by his many friends.

Murray had a keen interest in many things including antique cars.  It was a labour of love to refurbish his 1964 all original Ford Thunderbird and 1956 Meteor Town Sedan.  He won several awards and made many friends at various car shows that he attended.

As per Murray’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Special thank you to Dr. Hayward-Stewart, Dr LeBlanc, Brad Gunn, Angel Andrus, the staffs at Trenton and
Prince Edward Hospitals, and Wellington Pharmacy for their wonderful care of Murray.

Thank you also to Tod Lavender of Ainsworth Funeral Home.
Appreciation is extended to many neighbours, friends and family members for their friendship and support in Murray’s final days.
