Joan Loretta Wight (nee Taylor)
Passed away peacefully with family by her side on
Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 at the PEC Memorial Hospital.
Predeceased by husband Paddy (Ross) Wight, daughter Nancy Laguff(Howard), son Don(Ducky)Wight (Sandi),
and great grandson Caleb Sharpe. Survived by daughters Linda Wight (Eva), Sandra Karaz ( John), MaryLynn Ashton (Dave),
and son Steven Wight and with great joy and happiness 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Joan was best known for her role as partner and owner of Wights Greenhouses of Wellington and
produce retailer at Belleville Market, along with her husband Paddy Wight.
Known for her quiet patient manner, quick to laugh positive nature, and being “up” for any adventure
Joan created many lasting memories with family and friends. The coffee was always on for drop ins at the greenhouse
and a comfy chair at home to catch up on all the “latest” of Wellington.
Joan was able to pursue and fulfill her 91 years with card games at many local venues, travel, and love of trips
to the Casinos with very special friends up until COVID. As an avid Knitter, Joan was a go to troubleshooter for the
local library knitting club, and provided many with pumpkin hats, knitted items for nursing homes and cancer and pediatric wards.
Many Grandma Sweaters and Socks will be worn in comfort as we remember our
strong, determined, kind, caring, loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother Matriarch and Friend.
A Graveside Service will be held
on Thursday April 27nd at 1:00 pm at the
Wellington Cemetery, Consecon Street, Wellington
