Paul Allan Nykanen
April 29 1934 - March 17 2019
Paul will always be remembered for his amazing smile and generous spirit!
Paul was a husband who loved deeply and was deeply loved by his wife Maria.
Always together in a home filled with love, laughter, family & friends.
Paul was foremost a man who loved his family with all his heart!
Children: Dave and Jill, Carmen, Mark and Dani, Michael. Christine and family
Grandchildren: Colin, Lauren, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Ethan, Max, Grayson, and 4 great grandchildren
Paul’s nephew: Doug and Heather and their family
Throughout his illness Paul was surrounded by “Paul’s Buddies” a group of incredible friends
who came to talk, visit, play cards and enjoy some time on a bi-weekly basis.
Special thanks to Paul’s Buddies and to the whole “Because We Can” team!
Our family is gratefully indebted to the supportive Palliative Care Team of the County
with particular thanks to, Jennifer Hall, Dr. Sarah LeBlanc, Heather Campbell, Stacey Ross,
and thanks for the extraordinary care and kindness of the PSWs Nicole, Barb and Julie.
A graduate of U of T in Mechanical Engineering ’5T7, Paul grew up in Nipigon, Ontario
and was very proud of his Finnish heritage. Paul was a successful man in business and a
recognized corporate leader with integrity, the ability to listen and to help others succeed.
He held executive positions at Ingersoll Rand, Cochrane Dunlop, Caninsure and
Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
During his business career, he travelled throughout the world, met with leaders of industry,
leaders of governments and was widely called upon for his opinion on provincial, national
and international business matters by the media.

On Saturday, March 30th at 3:30 pm a Celebration of Life will be held at the
Wellington United Church, 245 Main Street, Wellington
followed by Celebrating Paul’s Life at 5:00 pm at the WOTL Rec Centre at 14 Empire Blvd., Wellington, ON
