Cleave, Elise Doreen

Passed away peacefully at Hospice Prince Edward, Picton
on Monday, September 4th, 2023

ELSIE DOREEN CLEAVE
In her 92nd year

Loving mother of Debbie, Trevor (Ellie), David (Nancy) and Rob (Ruth).
Dear grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Survived by her brother Earl Young (Sharon) and predeceased by brothers Ron, Bud and George Young.

Doreen was born on November 11th, 1931 at Kingston General Hospital and raised on a farm east of Napanee
along with her 4 brothers. At the age of 8, Doreen and another local girl were hospitalized with Meningitis and were not expected to survive. With her mother at her side night and day, and with daily spinal taps for 4 months, Doreen and the other girl both
recovered with Doreen being left deaf in one ear.

In her mid-teens the family moved to Mount Albert, ON where she finished high school. After graduating, she moved to an
apartment in downtown Toronto and worked as a secretary for Massey Harris at their head office.

Eventually, her cousin convinced her to join her at Kemptville Agricultural College where Doreen enrolled in the Dietician program.
During this time she met Dale who was also a student there. They married in 1954, eventually started their own business,
for which Doreen did the bookkeeping while raising four children.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Elder Care in Bloomfield, PEC Memorial Hospital
and Hospice Prince Edward for their compassionate care and support.

Cremation has taken place and a private family Graveside Service will be held at Wellington Cemetery.
