Hilson, David

David William Hilson
July 9, 1948 - September 30, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of my wonderful, fun loving, vibrant husband, Dave,
on September 30, 2020 at Belleville General Hospital at the age of 72.

He will be lovingly remembered by his older brother, Mike (Larraine), by nephews, Gavin (Abby),
Andrew (Katherine) and Chris (Caroline), by grandnieces and grandnephews, Maisie and Blaise, Jacob and Danica and Cana,
Ezra and Zach and by cousin Val (Ron), Pete, and Jane (Stan) and Tyler.

Dave emigrated to Toronto from England in 1959 with his brother and mother, joining his father who had come here two years earlier.
He spent most of his working life in the banking industry but it wasn’t until he retired that Dave’s true colours really shone through.
In retirement, he pursued several meaningful endeavours as a volunteer, working for Habitat for Humanity as a foreman for its first three builds in Muskoka.  In Bracebridge he spent eight years as part of the Mana Food Bank Team.  He was a driver for the Canadian Cancer Society for seven years, ferrying cancer patients back and forth initially in Muskoka and later in Prince Edward County.
At St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Wellington he was an active and enthusiastic congregant.

We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the staff at Belleville General Hospital and at Picton General Hospital
for their compassion and care.
A public Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
Some of Dave’s ashes will be taken back to England by his brother when times permit to be scattered on his parents’ grave.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Wellington.
