Brooks, Ronald

Passed away on Saturday, May 30th, 2015
at Hospice Prince Edward, Picton
two days before his 83rd birthday
Ronald George Kenneth (Ron) Brooks
of Wellington, Prince Edward County

Born in Coalville, Leicestershire, England,
Ron was the oldest son of the late Kenneth and Mabel (Tracey) Brooks.
His employment included working in Egypt as a member of the Royal Air Force,
where he was a ground crew mechanic.
After returning to England he was a police constable, working as a village bobby who
rode his bike around the village, keeping the community safe.
In 1969 he and his family moved to Canada, where he eventually became part of the
Durham Regional police force, working in various capacities until he retired.
After retiring, he moved to Wellington on the Lake, where he took an active leadership
role in founding several clubs such as carpet bowling, and in organizing
community suppers and events. He enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting, playing cards and gardening.
For many years he enjoyed annual trips to Nova Scotia to drive a tractor and help on the farm,
revisiting memories of his early childhood on his grandparents’ farm.

Surviving Ron are his wife of 60 years Doris (Congrave),
daughter Susan (Daryl) Ward of Falkland Ridge, NS, daughter Helen (Wayne) Wood
of Cobourg ON, son Michael (Sharlene) Brooks of Bowmanville ON,

He was predeceased by his brother Eric.

At Ron’s request there will be no visitation of service.
Cremation has taken place.
A private burial will take place
at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Oshawa, ON.

Memorial Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or
the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the people
who helped with Ron's care in his final days.
