Vanderwater, Joyce

Joyce Sarah Mary Vanderwater

left her saddened but loving family
on March 8, 2018, shortly before her 90th birthday on March 25th.
Predeceased in 2007 by her husband, Vernon (Van),
she is survived by five children, Velma (Bill Lang), Doug (Helen), Dave (Betty), Jon(Jackie), Peter (Cindy),
and 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Also survived by several cousins in England.

Born in the Lakes District in England to Arthur Tudor and Mary Jane Stott, Joy was raised in Harbury, Warwickshire
where she married RCAF Rear Gunner Vernon Vanderwater. In 1946, she joined him in Wellington with infant daughter Velma,
where they raised four sons. Joy spent many hours watching their hockey games and was especially thrilled in recent years
to see her name as a seat holder in the new arena.

Van's work at Northern Telecom moved them to Bramalea and then Raleigh, North Carolina.
In their retirement, they travelled in their RV throughout Canada and the US, eventually settling in Milton.
Wherever she lived, Joy made a welcoming, comfortable home. Her husband, children and grandchildren
were the centre of her life. In Wellington, she opened her home to families emigrating to Canada as well as her parents,
who made extended visits. While in Raleigh, she hosted many Canadian friends travelling south.
She always enjoyed making wonderful meals and trying new recipes. She had a loving and giving, but no- nonsense nature.
At the Elliott Community in Guelph, her strength and determination were amazing until the end.

Her life will be celebrated at the
Wellington United Church, 243 Main Street, Wellington
on Thursday, May 17that 2:30 p.m.
She will be laid to rest beside Van in the Wellington Cemetery

Donations are welcomed to the Alzheimer's Society.
