Geraldine Evaline Gassira (nee Down)
March 22 1933 – November 17 2022
Passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Michelle, son-in-law Tom Lyons
and grandchildren Kimberly and William by her side.
Geraldine was predeceased by her much-loved husband Bill Gassira and her sister Wanda Thompson.
She will be missed by her sister Betty Bishop and cousin Barbara Vacirca,
and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Geraldine lived in Wellington for most of her life. She graduated from Wellington Consolidated School in 1950
and worked at Bell Canada as an operator until she left to help her mother at their store Down’s Dry Goods.
She was a long time member of Wellington United Church and the Lakeside Chapter of the OES.
And she always enjoyed a good game of bridge.
The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Peter Johannsson, NP Amber Babcock,
and Paramed nurses Jide and Jennifer, for ensuring mom’s comfort.
We are grateful for the care of our primary PSW Susan Harrison and all the other wonderful PSWs from Paramed and Bayshore.
Michelle will be forever grateful for the support and kindness from our Care Coordinator at Home & Community Care,
Jiselle Zabarte, and my many friends and coworkers who walked this journey with her.
I couldn’t have done it without you.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 25th from 6-8 p.m. at the
Ainsworth Funeral Home, 288 Noxon Avenue, Wellington.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wellington United Church
on Saturday, November 26th at 10:00 a.m.
