It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 
Susan Elizabeth Telling (Lockyear)
a beloved mother, teacher, and world traveler, 
who passed away at the H.J. McFarland Memorial Home in Picton 
on March 22nd, 2025

Born in Ottawa, Canada, on 28th December 1947, Susan dedicated her life to her family and education, 

inspiring students and colleagues alike through her welcoming, cheerful, open and sharing personality, subtle sense of humour, 

and natural talent for teaching through personal example and practice. She formed strong bonds of friendship wherever 

she lived, staying connected to friends across time and distance.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, empathy and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew her.


Beloved wife of Geoffrey, wonderful mother to Stephen (Mindi), Rosalind (Iain).

Loving ‘Nanny’ to Gabrielle, Oliver and Alistair. Dear sister to Stephen (predeceased by Phillippa) (Pat). 

Aunt to Rebecca (Ben), Emily (Jakub), Kaitlin (Mark). Great Aunt to Harrison, Alice, Spencer, Dominik, and Jacob.


A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 11th at St Andrew’s Church, Wellington. 

Following the service a Celebration of Life will be held at Wellington-on-the-Lake Rec Centre on April 11th from 1 pm to 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to H.J. McFarland Memorial Home, Picton.
