Terry Hicks

Terry Amos Hicks
April 16, 1956 - December 20, 2024

Terry Hicks passed away peacefully at Hospice Prince Edward
on Friday, December 20th, at the age of 68.

Terry was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Freda Hicks and by his brother, Larry Hicks.
He is survived by his siblings, Marlene Bedborough and Kevin Hicks.
He will be missed by his sisters-in -law and brothers-in-law and will be fondly remembered
by his many nieces and nephews and their children.

Terry and Doreen (Branscombe Conder) married in Bloomfield, on New Years Eve, 41 years ago.
He was a loving stepfather to Ryan Conder and Mindi Conder and a doting step grandfather to Griffin Conder.

Terry was a County Boy to his core. He was born in Picton and raised on the family farm in Elmbrook.
He never had the least desire to live anywhere but the County.   He was a sports enthusiast, long time Leafs fan
and enjoyed organizing hockey pools. He kept impeccable stats all without the aid of a computer.

His happiest times though were spent at various ball diamonds across the County and beyond.

He coached Women’s Softball, and then many teams as his stepchildren moved through the Minor Ball system.
He also organized all the teams for Minor Ball in Bloomfield for several years. He then went on to coach/play in
Men’s softball tournaments and was instrumental in fundraising and forming the Bloomfield Mens Slow Pitch league.
That in turn carried on to also coaching a Mixed Slow Pitch team. His teams consisted of friends and family.
Many of his nieces and nephews and in laws were recruited to join his teams and those friends came to feel like family.
That was many years ago now but remained among his fondest memories.
RIP Coach

Terry fought an ongoing battle with diabetes since his 21st birthday.
Several times over the years we thought he was losing that fight only to see him claw his way back.
The debilitating consequences of that disease finally wore him out, he was tired of the struggle.

Special thanks to the staff of Hospice PE, Dr. Chattwal and his team, Nurse Practioners, David Manchester and Brad Gunn,
staff of PECMH, BGH and KGH, especially Dr. Holland and his team at the Kingston Renal Clinic and the many PSWs
and therapists that helped Terry both in the hospitals and at home.

Cremation has taken place.
Any further arrangements are pending.
