Your Mom's laugh - sometimes a "hoot" of laughter. Over something funny, something crazy making, something joyful, something that filled her with pride about you kids. And those dancing eyes! I don't recall when I first met her. We moved to South Marysburgh in 1977. I think she was on the Library Board with me. I certainly remember her as Brown Owl and on the County school board. Emily was in Grade 3 and Mrs. Welsh was moving to a different school. Em was upset. " Who will be our new music teacher? Who will do our school shows?" I had no answers and music was an expendable back then. I explained about writing a letter and having other kids sign the letter. I explained that Brown Owl was the person who represented us on a thing called the school board - but not as Brown Owl. So Emily became a political activist and sent your Mom a letter asking the questions she asked me. And your Mom decided it should go to ALL the Board members and staff. Come fall, Kevin Gannon was hired to be the new music teacher. Your Mom and I shared a high 5 and a "hoot" of laughter over that. Emily learned a lot from your Mom - stuff she has used throughout her life. And I did too. Thank you for sharing her with us and our community. Thinking of you. sincerely, Monica |
