Message: I was a staff member at PECI when Josh was a student there. I worked directly with the students for their attendance, concerns with school life or just a person to be on their side when having difficulties with their teachers. Josh was always a sweetheart to work with no matter what was going on in his life. He kept his life pretty close to himself and never deliberately sought out anyone to help him. As a Mother myself, I made it my job to be very in tune with the students and treat them as if they were my own children, complete with expectations, guidance and love. When Josh was not having a great day, he wore it in a way only a Mom would recognize. I would offer a kind word, and an offer of being there if he needed someone to talk to. Occasionally, he would talk to me for assistance with a school issue and we would work through it. It was always obvious that Josh had a heart of gold. I never once saw him act unkindly to any other student nor disrespect staff. He was always gentle in his mannerisms and if he could assist someone, he never hesitated. He endeared himself to me even more when Lucas started school. He always made time to check in with Lucas in the cafeteria to make sure he ate, was having a good day and just be a big brother. It was even better to see the big smile on Lucas's face when he spotted Josh coming towards him. The love was tremendous between them. Certain students during my 10 years at the school will always be remembered by me. Josh was one of them. If I ran into one of his friends, I always asked about him. The pain I feel is nothing compared to yours but I do want you to know he was dearly loved and I very much enjoyed getting to know him and watching him grow into the adult he became. For this I feel very blessed. Please accept my sympathies at this very difficult time.

Message: I met Josh part way through high school. We soon became good friends, shared many laughs and great times over the years. I distinctly remember that Josh was the one who had convinced me to try skateboarding. Looking back on that now, all I can do is laugh. How did I think that was a good idea?! High school was always a tough time to make new friends, but Josh made it easy. He was such a kind and caring person. He would always try and pick you up when you were feeling down. As so often happens, we went on different paths and sort of lost touch. Even though I rarely talked to Josh at this point, I often thought of him and hoped he was doing well. I think that was just the effect Josh had on many people. He left a lasting impression that will never go away.

Janice, Greg and Lucas, I am so very sorry for your loss, I know Josh loved you all.

I will never forget the memories I have of Josh, his spirit will live on with these memories that we all carry.

Message: Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I only met Josh once. It was several years ago. He was doing a co-op placement at the Prince Edward Learning Centre in Picton. He tutored our son, Luke Flynn, over a period of several months. He was a gifted teacher...a natural...and he somehow managed to make learning fun. He was a kind, thoughtful and intelligent young man. His gifts will not be forgotten.

Message: I did not know Joshua personally except through his grandpa, Regis Yaworski. He spoke highly and often about his grandsons and never said a negative word against any of them. I learned that Josh was especially loved by his brother Lucas who loved and cared for him in return. My deepest condolences to Greg, Janice and Lucas as well as to his grandpa Regis. May you all have strength during this time and uphold one another. If any of you have put your trust in God, I pray He will sustain you through this time of sadness. Know this for certain; God did not cause this to happen but He allowed it because He knows you are strong enough to endure the pain and He will use you to help others in the future. Love from Greg’s aunt Dianne

Message: Honestly I can't even find the words to say how I feel right now, Josh was one of the kindest souls I have ever met. He would always make me smile and laugh when I was upset or going through something major, even if he was going through a hard time he would always put others first. I miss going to the wellington beach with him and with all of our closest friends and hang out in the top of the rafter and I miss bonfires and long late night drives with him listening to the music we loved most. This world will never be the same without Josh and he will truly never be forgotten I hope he is dancing in the sky somewhere looking down on all of us. Im so sorry to his family at this time no one should ever have to feel what they are feeling and I hope everyone that Josh has ever been close with is staying strong Josh would want us to celebrate him even though it seems impossible right now. He always had a smile on his face for all of us and I will forever have a smile on my face for him ❤
