Babbitt, Gordon
Gordon slipped away quietly, peacefully, at Prince Edward Hospice on Sunday November 19th.
He was born October 11, 1934 and lived most of his life in Prince Edward County.
He was the second son of Mary (Anderson) and Sherman Babbitt. He is survived by his brother William (Shirley).
He was a graduate of B.C.I. and Guelph University. In 1962, he married Corinne (Fargey)
and they had 3 children; Mary Jane Prendergast (Michael), Julie Babbitt (Angus) and Jim (Stephanie).
He loved his 6 grandchildren Sarah Gay (Brandon), Emma Prendergast, Andrew and Simon Cleghorn, Connie and Jason Babbitt. 

Gordon loved the “County” and the people who live here. He spent countless hours trying to make life better for everyone.
He was a Deputy Reeve and Reeve of Ameliasburgh , served on County Council and was Warden of The “County” for a short time.
He sat on and chaired many committees such as library, hospital, park and recreation, museums, roads etc.

He loved to travel and visited most of Europe and Russia. At age 75, Corinne and Gordon bought a house in Phoenix, Arizona
and spent many happy winters there travelling all of the western U.S. and sailed all the islands of Hawaii.
Gordon was head of Science at Centennial Secondary School in Belleville.

 He had a full and happy life and he was deeply loved by his family and will always remain so.

Visitation will be held at the
Ainsworth Funeral Home, 288 Noxon Avenue, Wellington
on Friday November, 24th from 6pm to 8pm.

Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 25th at Ainsworth Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Prince Edward or the Storehouse Food Bank.
