Arbuthnot, Ronald

On Tuesday, September 1, 2020,
Ronald Ian Arbuthnot,
loving husband and father passed away peacefully in Westgate Lodge at the age of 80.

Ron was born in 1940 in Collingwood, Ontario to Archibald and Alma (Robinson) Arbuthnot.
His childhood days were spent helping with the family farm and cultivating his lifelong passion for skiing.
Always mechanically curious, Ron started his career at IBM in 1965 and moved on to work for OISE until his retirement.
After marrying in 1967, Ron & Bev raised their family in Agincourt where he always found the time to help with
his sons’ Boy Scout troop and drinking the “world’s worst cup of coffee” while watching them play hockey at an undignified hour on Saturday mornings. Ron also took on roles in musical theatre and found time to appreciate nature, especially from a canoe. He remained active in his later years, roaming the hills with his cherished ski patrol well into his mid-70s, volunteering in his community, actively helping the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Wellington, and ever tinkering with yet
“another thing to fix around here.” Ron was always willing to lend a helping hand and could be counted on
for his unfailing sense of decency and honesty.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Beverley,
his two sons Ian (Jodi) and Sandy, and his granddaughter Grace
as well as brothers George (Audrey) and Reg (Linda).

Due to the restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic,
a private family interment will be held at the Wellington Cemetery.
