Carmichael, Donald
DONALD CARMICHAEL

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Donald
Carmichael on August 13th, 2011 at age 81.  A resident of the Lord Dufferin
Retirement Centre in Orangeville, Don passed peacefully at the Headwaters
Hospital in Orangeville, with his two daughters at his side, from
complications following a hip fracture.   Born in Glasgow, Scotland and
immigrated to Canada in 1953 after serving his apprenticeship at Barclay
Curle Shipbuilders on the River Clyde.  Don loved people, playing golf,
bowling, fishing, singing, dancing and watching his granddaughter Veronica
play hockey.  Predeceased by Jean, his beloved wife of 55 years, and his
parents William and Elizabeth Carmichael, and siblings Liz and Duncan.
Both Don and Jean loved antiques, and enjoyed buying and selling Canadiana
furniture when the family lived in Caledon.  He touched the lives of many
people with his smile and his outgoing and happy nature.   Don will be
dearly missed by daughters Lynn (Dave Smythe) and Donna (Doug Moore) and
treasured granddaughter Veronica, and his siblings Harry, Billy, Marion and
Jimmy, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial is planned.
Donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
